The Penang Digital Library (hereinafter known as “The Library”) reserves the right to add and / amend any of the terms & conditions without prior notice. In order to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for reading, learning, and other library activities, The Library require all users to comply with the following Rules and Regulations.
DEFINITIONS
- “The Library” means the Penang Digital Library.
- “PDL” means the Penang Digital Library
- “Library staff” means the staff of Penang Digital Library
- “Librarian” means the Head of Penang Digital Library
- “Staff on duty” means the staff work during operation hour
1.0 – OPERATION HOUR
Day: Monday to Sunday (Daily)
Time: Open 24 Hours
2.0 – GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS
- Food and beverages are available at Love a Loaf at Ground Floor. It is the only place where food and beverages are allowed. The Library encourage users to patronize Love a Loaf;
- No outside food and drinks allowed in The Library building. The only exception is for bottled water at 1st Floor, which must be kept securely closed when not in use;
- No smoking please, including electronic cigarettes in The Library premises;
- The Library atmosphere will be adhered to at all times. No loud voices, running around, name-calling, inappropriate language or bad behavior will be tolerated;
- All electronic gadgets used in the area should be set in ‘SILENT MODE’. These should not be left unattended to prevent any losses;
- Users should be properly attired;
- Children under the age of 6 must be supervised and within visual contact of a parents/guardian at all times while using The Library facilities;
- No library equipment may be moved, modified or tampered with without permission from the Librarian;
- Belongings left on tables and chairs at Collaboration Room, Nook Area and Amphitheater for more than 15 minutes unattended may be removed by the Library Staff;
- Users will be responsible for their own goods belongings inside The Library and The library shall not take any responsibility for loss of personal property;
- If users find any items left in the library, please leave it with the Library Staff at the Library. Users who lose items in The Library area may check at the Help Desk Counter;
- The Library practices a “shoe-free” environment and no shoes are allowed on 1st Floor. The Library have provided users with shoe lockers at Ground Level. User need to arrange their shoes neatly at designed area if shoe racks are fully used;
- No backpacks or large shoulder bags are allowed at 1st Floor. These items will either be stored in a locker at Help Desk Counter. No exceptions will be made;
- Animals are not permitted in The Library compound;
- Maintain the cleanliness of The Library premises and ensure that unnecessary waste are thrown in the designated bins at Ground Floor;
- Loitering around library buildings is prohibited, trespassing in non-public areas of The Library is prohibited;
- Good order must be observed in The Library at all times, for example, placing of feet on the furniture, smoking, sleeping etc. will not be allowed;
- Notices must not be displayed or distributed by users in any part of The Library except by or with the permission of the Librarian, nor may users offer anything for sale in The Library;
- Whenever a fire alarm sounds in The Library building, all readers must vacate the library immediately;
- Users who use The Library facilities and services, is subject to Library Rules and Regulations that has been established from time to time;
- The Library staff on duty has the authority to bar any person from using library facilities for any infringement of the Library Rules and Regulations;
3.0 – LIBRARY AUTHORITY
- All users will be held responsible for any damage or loss of library materials in their possession and will be required to meet the cost of replacement and processing;
- The library reserve the right to add, delete or amend these terms and conditions at any time and from time to time and prior written notice of the same in such form and manner determined by The Library shall be given to the library user;
4.0 – DELEGATION
Members of the public who would like to visit The Library must send an official letter from their place of employment or college/university that they are studying at, stating the purpose and duration of their visit. All letter have to submit to:
